Questions, problems, or something the app got wrong in the field — write to the address below and you will get a reply from a person.
If you are reporting something that went wrong, it helps enormously to include your device and iOS version, what you expected the stamp to say, and what it actually said. A photo of the stamp itself is the best bug report there is.
Weather needs your location, because the app has to know where to ask about. Open Settings → Field Instinct → Location and choose While Using the App. If Precise Location is off the app still works — it just reports conditions for a wider area.
A Wi-Fi-only iPad has no GPS chip and locates itself from the network, which can take longer and occasionally fails indoors. Stepping near a window or switching to cellular usually resolves it. If it never resolves, the app writes the rest of the stamp anyway and simply leaves the weather line out — the record is still valid.
Into the app’s own folder, which you can reach from the Files app under On My iPhone → Field Instinct. The notebook on the home screen is a view of that same folder, not a second copy — so a file you delete in Files disappears from the notebook, and one you restore from a backup comes back.
2026-09-20_09-14-33_outfall-3.jpg — date first, then time, then the
area. That ordering means that once the photos are on a computer, sorting by name sorts
them by when they were taken. The area is simplified to plain letters and dashes so the
name survives any operating system it lands on.
Yes. Settings inside the app lets you label that line Area or Discipline. Whatever you type carries across every photo in an outing until you change it, so you set it once when you arrive on site.
The row reflects the lenses your device actually has. 0.5× appears only on devices with an ultra-wide camera, which most iPads and the smaller iPhone models do not have. Pinching to zoom works everywhere regardless.
Yes — Stamp a photo you have on the home screen. The date and time come from the photo itself rather than from now, so an import made a week later still carries the moment it was actually shot.
No, and that is the point. The stamp is burned into the image at full resolution, so the photograph is the record. Nothing depends on this app still existing, or on a database, or on a caption stored somewhere else. If you need an unstamped copy, keep the original — stamping never modifies it.

Field Instinct has no servers, no accounts, and no analytics. Nothing you photograph or type leaves your device. The full statement is in the privacy policy.
